Tungsten Alloy Gimbal Counterweight

1. What’s Tungsten Alloy Gimbal Counterweight?
Tungsten alloy gimbal counterweight is high-density balance weight designed for camera gimbals, stabilizers and other photography and videography equipment. It adjusts the center of gravity, balancing torque and rotational inertia of camera and lens loads by adding mass at specific positions. CTIA's tungsten alloy gimbal counterweight combines high density, compact size and good vibration resistance, concentrating substantial mass into the extremely limited spaces around gimbal arms and quick-release plates to reduce motor load, improve stabilization response and support photography and videography, drone aerial imaging, robotics and precision optical equipment.
2. Features of CTIA’s Tungsten Alloy Gimbal Counterweight
(1) High Density, Compact Size: Density is 16.5–18.8 g/cm³, with about half the volume of steel at the same weight, allowing more counterweight mass within limited gimbal space while minimizing interference with movement.
(2) Precise Mass Adjustment, Flexible Balancing: Available in weight modules such as 12 g, 60 g, 200 g and 320 g. Adding, removing, stacking or repositioning counterweights adjusts the balancing torque in pitch and roll directions for different camera and lens configurations.
(3) High Strength, Good Vibration Resistance: Tensile strength is typically 700–1200 MPa, providing resistance to cracking and deformation under high-frequency vibration and impact.
(4) Dimensional Stability: The thermal expansion coefficient of tungsten alloy is approximately 1/2–1/3 that of iron or steel. Smaller dimensional changes during outdoor temperature variations help maintain consistent counterweight positioning and balancing conditions.
(5) Controllable Magnetic Properties: W-Ni-Cu alloy offers low magnetic response, with some grades having relative magnetic permeability close to 1, making it suitable for gimbals and electro-optical payloads with magnetometers and magnetic sensors.
(6) Lead-Free, Replacing Lead Counterweights: Tungsten alloy contains no lead and is non-radioactive, providing a material option for photography and electro-optical equipment subject to higher material safety and environmental requirements.
(7) Flexible Machining, Easy Installation Adaptation: Tungsten alloy can be machined into cylinders, blocks, curved plates and irregular structures, with drilling, thread tapping and slotting available to match different gimbal counterweight interfaces and mounting structures.
3. Applications of CTIA’s Tungsten Alloy Gimbal Counterweight
(1) Handheld Camera Stabilizers: Used with gimbals for DSLRs, mirrorless cameras and action cameras to balance camera and lens loads, improving overall shooting stability.
(2) Drone Gimbals: Installed on aerial imaging gimbals to adjust payload center of gravity, reducing motor load and power consumption while supporting longer flight time.
(3) Professional Cinema Gimbals: Used in large cinema camera gimbals and jib systems to balance camera bodies, heavy lenses and other accessories.
(4) Smartphone Gimbals: Provides concentrated mass compensation within compact equipment, helping adjust load distribution and improve stabilization performance.
(5) Industrial Inspection Gimbals: Used in stabilized platforms for machine vision and inspection equipment to adjust load distribution and maintain stable image acquisition.
