Tungsten Alloy Robot Counterweight

1. What’s Tungsten Alloy Robot Counterweight?
Tungsten alloy robot counterweight refers to counterweight installed on robotic arms, joints, end effectors, and other parts of a robot to adjust mass distribution and center-of-gravity position. With a higher density than common counterweight materials such as steel and aluminum, CTIA's tungsten alloy robot counterweight allows greater mass to be concentrated within limited space. Proper mass distribution also helps improve joint loading and overall balance during robot motion.
2. Features of CTIA's Tungsten Alloy Robot Counterweights
(1) High Density, Compact Size: Density of 16.5–18.8 g/cm³ allows a smaller volume than steel or lead counterweights of the same mass, making tungsten alloy suitable for confined spaces such as bases, chassis, robotic arm cavities, and internal joints.
(2) Flexible Center-of-Gravity Adjustment: Adjusting counterweight mass, installation position, and mass distribution allows the overall or local center of mass to be controlled, helping improve force and load distribution during joint actuation.
(3) Dimensional Stability: Coefficient of thermal expansion of approximately 4.4–5.5×10⁻⁶/K minimizes dimensional changes caused by motor heat and ambient temperature variations, helping maintain assembly accuracy between the counterweight and the robot's mechanical structure.
(4) Versatile Structural Forms: Providing tungsten alloy blocks, plates, cylinders, rings, and custom-shaped parts with mounting features such as countersunk holes, locating slots, and internal threads to suit different robotic mechanisms.
(5) High Strength, Resistance to Dynamic Loads: Tensile strength of 700–1000 MPa, combined with good impact and wear resistance, supports counterweight applications involving high-speed robotic arm movements, frequent joint starts and stops, and continuous vibration.
(6) Lead-Free, Environmentally Friendly: Containing no lead helps reduce heavy metal contamination associated with lead counterweights, making tungsten alloy suitable for medical robots, food-processing robots, and industrial robots with material cleanliness requirements.
3. Applications of CTIA's Tungsten Alloy Robot Counterweights
CTIA's tungsten alloy counterweights are primarily used in robots equipped with robotic arms, rotary joints, moving mechanisms, or end-effectors.
(1) Industrial Robots: Used in the joints and upper arms of six-axis robotic arms, SCARA (Selective Compliance Assembly Robot Arm) robots, palletizing robots, and stamping and handling mechanisms to balance cantilever loads, reduce servo motor loads at the joints, and improve repeatability in positioning.
(2) Collaborative Robots: Used inside lightweight human–robot collaborative arms, desktop robots, and modular joints to provide the required mass within compact joint housings and achieve precise torque balancing in limited space.
(3) Mobile Robots: Used in the chassis and drive-wheel systems of low-profile wheeled AMRs (Autonomous Mobile Robots), driverless forklifts, rail transit inspection robots, and warehouse sorting AGVs (Automated Guided Vehicles) to lower the overall center of gravity and reduce the risk of tipping or wheel slippage during sharp turns, climbing, or emergency stops.
(4) Service and Medical Robots: Used in surgical robots, exoskeleton robots, rehabilitation and care robots, and commercial cleaning robots with lifting mechanisms to balance moving components and support smooth, quiet operation under precise control.
(5) Special-Purpose and Underwater Robots: Used in bomb disposal robots, pipeline inspection robots, fire-fighting robots designed for hazardous environments, ROVs (Remotely Operated Vehicles), and AUVs (Autonomous Underwater Vehicles) for attitude trimming, stabilizing ballast, and buoyancy adjustment.
