Tungsten Alloy Watch Rotor Counterweight

1. What's Tungsten Alloy Watch Rotor Counterweight?
Tungsten alloy watch rotor counterweight is a miniature mass-balancing component made with tungsten as the matrix and nickel-iron or nickel-copper as binder phases through powder metallurgy liquid-phase sintering. It is mainly used to provide eccentric mass and adjust rotational inertia in the automatic winding rotor of mechanical watches. CTIA's tungsten alloy watch rotor counterweight uses the high density of tungsten alloy to concentrate substantial eccentric mass within a compact semi-circular or sector-shaped structure, with mass, geometry, and mounting position configured to control rotor moment of inertia. It is suitable for automatic mechanical watches, ultra-thin mechanical watches, and complex mechanical movements.
2. Features of CTIA's Tungsten Alloy Watch Rotor Counterweight
(1) High Density and Compact Size: Tungsten alloy typically has a density of 16.5–18.8 g/cm³, allowing substantial eccentric mass to be configured within limited case space and supporting miniature and ultra-thin watch movements.
(2) High Strength and Wear Resistance: With tensile strength of approximately 600–1200 MPa and hardness of HRC 24–35, the counterweight withstands continuous rotor rotation, repeated acceleration and deceleration, and mechanical loads.
(3) Stable and Corrosion Resistant: Tungsten alloy offers good physical and chemical stability and resists corrosion from perspiration, oils, and trace moisture, supporting long-term operation.
(4) Lead-Free and Material Safe: Lead-free tungsten alloy avoids the use of traditional lead-based counterweight materials and is suitable for precision watch components with material safety requirements.
(5) High Machining Precision for Miniature Structures: Precision forming, grinding, milling, and drilling can produce semi-circular, sector-shaped, ring-shaped, and openwork structures with controlled dimensions, holes, slots, and assembly features.
3. Applications of Tungsten Alloy Watch Rotor Counterweight
(1) Automatic Mechanical Watches: Used in outer-edge weighting rings, semi-circular counterweight blocks, and other rotor structures to provide eccentric mass and adjust rotational inertia.
(2) Ultra-Thin Mechanical Watches: Used in ultra-thin movements and micro-rotor structures to configure substantial eccentric mass within limited installation space.
(3) Complex Mechanical Watches: Used in automatic rotor counterweights and miniature mass-compensation structures for complex movements such as tourbillons, perpetual calendars, and chronographs.
(4) Precision Timing Instruments: Used for rotor and eccentric-mass adjustment in mechanical marine chronometers, aviation mechanical timers, and other precision timing mechanisms.
(5) Miniature Inertial Mechanisms: Used in miniature mechanical instruments and rotating inertial mechanisms requiring compact eccentric mass for inertia adjustment or mechanical energy conversion.
(6) Miniature Energy-Harvesting Devices: Used as eccentric oscillating weights in wearable kinetic energy harvesters and miniature passive monitoring devices, generating mechanical motion through rotating mass.
