1. What's Tungsten Alloy Satellite Counterweight?
Tungsten alloy satellite counterweight is high-density balance weight component used for satellite mass adjustment. During launch and on-orbit operation, mass distribution affects the center of gravity, moment of inertia, and attitude control. Therefore, satellite counterweights need to provide sufficient mass within limited space while maintaining stable weight and dimensions. CTIA's tungsten alloy satellite counterweight features high density, high strength, and good thermal stability, meeting the requirements for compact structure, stable mass, and dimensional accuracy in satellite counterweight applications.

2. Features of CTIA's Tungsten Alloy Satellite Counterweight
(1) High Density, More Mass in Limited Space: Density is approximately 16.5–18.8 g/cm³. It occupies less space for the same mass, making it suitable for counterweight locations with limited space inside satellites.
(2) High Strength, Resistance to Launch Vibration and Shock: High tensile strength and hardness enable the counterweight to withstand vibration, shock, and acceleration loads during launch while maintaining structural stability.
(3) Good Thermal Stability, Small Dimensional Change: A low coefficient of thermal expansion results in small dimensional changes caused by temperature variations, helping maintain stable counterweight positioning and mass distribution.
(4) Low Outgassing, Suitable for Vacuum Environments: Proper sintering and post-treatment of dense tungsten alloy can reduce the effects of internal pores and volatile substances on the vacuum environment, making it suitable for space equipment with high material cleanliness requirements.
(5) Selectable Magnetic Properties, Suitable for Magnetically Sensitive Payloads: W-Ni-Cu is non-magnetic and suitable for magnetometers, magnetically sensitive instruments, and other applications with strict magnetic-environment requirements, while W-Ni-Fe is suitable for general structural counterweights.
(6) Flexible Machining, Convenient for Precision Assembly: Turning, milling, grinding, and drilling enable precision machining of counterweight blocks, cylinders, discs, rings, and irregular parts, with holes, slots, steps, and other structural features added as required for precise assembly.

3. Applications of CTIA's Tungsten Alloy Satellite Counterweight
(1) Attitude Control Systems: Used for counterweighting and inertia adjustment of rotating components such as momentum wheels and reaction wheels to improve rotor mass distribution and operating balance.
(2) Inertial Measurement Systems: Used for mass matching, center-of-gravity adjustment, and dynamic balancing of gyroscopes and other inertial components to improve mass consistency in rotating components.
(3) Motion Actuation Mechanisms: Used as counterweights for antenna pointing mechanisms, solar arrays, and deployable components to adjust their center-of-gravity positions and reduce imbalance during actuation and deployment.
(4) Onboard Instruments: Used for mass adjustment around precision instruments such as magnetometers and star trackers. W-Ni-Cu counterweights can reduce the influence of the counterweight material on the surrounding magnetic environment.
(5) Satellite Structures: Used for mass compensation in satellite bodies, equipment supports, and mounting structures to adjust the overall center of gravity and mass distribution.
(6) Launch Vehicle Interface Structures: Used for mass adjustment at satellite-to-launch-vehicle connection points to support center-of-gravity control and structural balance during launch.
(7) Ground Testing: Used for center-of-gravity, moment-of-inertia, and dynamic-balancing calibration during satellite assembly and ground testing, providing counterweight adjustment for mass-property verification before on-orbit operation.
